Who we are
Our aims and objectives
Our aim is to create a “home from home” atmosphere, with lots of activities including art and craft, gentle keep fit, visiting entertainers, quizzes, raffles and bingo, but above all the chance to socialise and make friends. This is achieved by:
- Provision of a Day Care Centre where clients
- are provided with a full meal on days of attendance
- are provided with a forum for interacting with others
- are provided with entertainment activities and appropriate physical exercises
- are provided with transport to & from the centre where required
- are given the opportunity to attend outings and social events at various times of year
- Provision of a Meals-on-Wheels service for clients who cannot attend the Day Care centre
- Provision of a Drop In Centre
Our governance
Shankill Day Care Centre is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors (or Trustees).
The Day Care Centre and meals-on-wheels service is managed by our Nurse Manager (Jacinta O’Sullivan) who is ably supported by a number of staff (including Care Assistants, Cooks, kitchen assistants), our minibus service and our many volunteers.
Compliance
Shankill Day Care Centre is compliant with the Charities Regulator Governance Code.
We are also fully compliant with the Charities SORP (Statement of Recommended Practice ).
Funding and Finance
Our donors and supporters are the backbone of our organisation. We subscribe to a Donor Charter.

We believe in Honesty and transparency about our finances and our charitable spend so that you can see the impact of your support. We publish our annual financial statements and annual reports on both our website and on the Charities Regulator’s website.
