Every day many people walk past the Daycare Centre on Lower Road Shankill unaware of all the activities that go on inside its doors.
Yet for many older people this bulding provides a chance to meet their friends and socialise, an opportunity which might otherwise be difficult when they are no longer able to get out and about easily.
Shankill Old Folks Association provides a variety of services and activities: the Daycare Centre, Meals on Wheels, the Wednesday Tea Club, the monthly Book Sale, and is a focus for a range of volunteering opportunities.
Click the links at the top of this page to discover more of what we do and to get involved.
People over 60 are invited to come to the Daycare Centre and join in our Dance Theatre sessions (Monday 11am – 12 noon) and our Siel Bleu sessions (Friday 11am – 12 noon). Siel Bleu offers life enhancng exercise for older adults. Both the Dance Theatre and Siel Bleu sessions are great fun! The cost per session is €5 but there is limited capacity, so first come, first served.
The Wednesday Tea Club is open every Wednesday from 2pm – 4pm. Anyone over 60 is very welcome to join us each Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. for tea, chat, entertainment and Bingo. There is a small subscription to the Club.
